NO ACTIVE COVID-19 CASES
St. Vincent and the Grenadines currently has no known active COVID-19 cases. This was confimed by the receipt today of negative PCR results which completed the multitiered testing protocol in place in SVG. This process, as previously indicated, requires that preliminary positive results must trigger an aggressive intervention aimed at the rapid implementation of isolation, quarantine of contacts
and additional testing.
The Vincentian nationals who arrived from the BVI on Saturday September 5 were swabbed on September 10 and tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 by RT-PCR on
Friday September 11. As per protocol, additional RT-PCR tests were conducted at the Molecular Laboratory Unit of the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment and at CARPHA, and retumed negative results for SARS-CoV-2.
All passengers who arrived on AA 945 from Miami on Saturday 12, 2020 were found to be negative on RT-PCR testing for SARS-COV-2, and have been released from their transition quarantine hotels. St. Vincent and the Grenadines to date has recorded sixty-four (64) COVID-19 cases, all of whom have now been classified as recovered.
The public is again reminded of our shared responsibility of ensuring that everyone adheres to all of the protocols established in St. Vincent and the Grenadines aimed at reducing the risk of the importation and subsequent transmission of COVID-19 in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
These protocols, ineluding testing. quarantine
and isolation, are vital and have been proven to reduce the introduction and slow the spread of COvID-19 in St. Vincent and the Girenadines.
