BRITAIN has reportedly purchased millions of coronavirus antibody tests from China, however their accuracy is still to be proven.
Coronavirus: Testing needs to ‘significantly expert
The kits have been manufactured by two Chinese firms - AllTest and Wondfo - based in Hangzhou and Guangzhou respectively. It is expected the tests from the Wondfo firm will arrive in Britain by the end of the week, however, there are reported delays from the other Chinese firm. Whilst the tests are understood to have European Union approval, Public Health England has yet to confirm any antibody test is accurate to use.
However, it is hoped the new set of tests which will arrive soon can be deployed by in hospitals as soon as possible.
Testing kits purchased by other countries have led to a litany of problems, with efficacy and accuracy issues.
Many nations have been forced to send back kits received from China which were found to be defective.
The Government of the Netherlands was forced to return 500,000 face masks purchased from Bejing.
And the Spanish Government turned its back on tens of thousands of ineffective testing kits.
The Czech Republic and Turkey have also made complaints about supplies which were not fit for purpose.
However, Chinese state media has furiously protested the idea the country’s Government is issuing faulty goods.
