A tropical wave located more than 900 miles west-southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands is producing a small area of disorganized showers and thunderstorms. Environmental conditions are expected to be marginally conducive for development of this system during the next few days while it moves westward at 10 to 15 mph over the tropical Atlantic. By Friday and over the weekend, conditions are forecast to become less favorable for tropical cyclone formation. * Formation chance through 48 hours...low...10 percent. * Formation chance through 5 days...low...20 percent.
Synopsis: A surface to mid level trough is affecting the island.
Forecast: Fair to partly cloudy at first, becoming partly cloudy to cloudy with scattered light to moderate showers during the afternoon.
Wind: ESE - E at 20 to 30 km/h.
Seas: Slight to moderate in open water with swells from 1.0m to 1.5m.
Eastern Caribbean Outlook
Today: The low to mid-level trough will continue to affect Barbados, the Windwards and southern Leewards. However, an increase in surface to low level moisture and instability is expected at this time across Barbados and the southern Windwards.
As a result, occasionally cloudy skies and scattered light to moderate showers are predicted. During the night, a surface to mid-level ridge pattern will begin to rebuild over this area, as the previously mentioned trough moves further westward.
Meanwhile, the Leewards will be under the effects of a surface to low-level confluent pattern. Partly cloudy to occasionally cloudy skies with some scattered showers are expected over these islands.
