In an interview with SVGTV News , Regisford said last year a number of businesses saw a reduction in demand for their goods or services including bars, gyms, hairdressers and spas.
He said while no official evaluation of the economic effects of the pandemic has been carried out locally, the Chamber of Industry and Commerce saw reduction in revenue of 30%, as evidence of the pandemic’s impact .
Regisford is hopeful that SVG can avoid any extended lock down noting that conditions are not favourable for small economies like SVG to absorb the effects of a shut down.
