Tropical wave is expected to generate cloudy to overcast skies, scattered light to moderate showers

Synopsis: A tropical wave is approaching the island.

Forecast: Fair to occasionally cloudy and breezy with a few scattered showers at first, becoming generally cloudy to overcast with scattered showers and a chance of isolated thunderstorms after midday.

Wind: ENE - E at 20 to 40km/h with higher gust.

Seas: Slight to moderate in open water with swells from 1.0m to 2.0m.



Eastern Caribbean Outlook


Today: Tropical wave with axis along 55/56W south of 16N (at 0600 UTC) is expected to begin affecting Barbados around midday and eventually the rest of the island chain by early evening into the night.


This wave is expected to generate cloudy to overcast skies, scattered light to moderate showers and possible isolated thunderstorms over Barbados and across the eastern Caribbean throughout the afternoon and night.


An upper level trough positioned over the island chain is likely to provide added impetus for convective cloud development.
